Treatment of different kind of hernias
These can be groin hernias, incisional hernias (post-op), umbilical hernias and other rarer hernias that occur in the abdomen-pelvis.
Gall bladder disease
Encompasses two different forms; Gall bladder dysfunction with a normal ultrasound and diseased gall bladder that can be seen by an ultrasound. Symptoms can strongly suggest gall bladder disease. But to demonstrate it appropriate tests must be ordered with proper interpretation of results. The “gold standard” for treatment of diagnosed gall bladder disease is the laparoscopic removal of the gall bladder; other surgical treatments may be needed also.
Breast biopsies and treatments
Breast diseases usually mean the diagnosis and treatment of different lesions found during diagnostic efforts. This usually means a biopsy utilizing different techniques. Additional surgery depends on the results of the biopsy.
Appendectomy
Appendicitis usually is a condition treated as an emergency at the worst possible time. Whenever it occurs it will be treated by the most appropriate laparoscopically or open technique.
Skin disorders
The treatment of most skin disorders do not involve surgery, but whenever surgical therapy is indicated the most beneficial combination of attention to cosmetics and completeness of the treatment will be utilized.
Colorectal and intestinal disorders
Many colorectal and intestinal disorders can be treated without participation by the surgeon, but when surgery is needed then the surgeon needs to decide on the therapy weather it is repair or removal, depends on the situation. The research done on adhesions, plays a critical role determining the appropriate therapy for bowel obstruction and other intestinal disorders. New therapies are in development and Dr. Semertzides has worked closely with companies in the development of new techniques and materials to treat intestinal and colorectal problems. These techniques and materials are available to his patients.
